The final Flop
Now it actually sounds quite nice to say "I'm going to the Bahamas in January." And really, everything was perfect when we started off from Frankfurt Airport with Singapore Airlines. It seemed like an absolute smooth trip.
Unfortunately we lost so much time above the Atlantic that we got close to missing the connecting flight. To be exact, we did miss it by half an hour. Could this be a bad omen? As a poker player I'm pretty superstitious. For three hours after, we tried to get another flight. Hey, this is the country of boundless possibilities. Still, we didn't manage to get on with it, so we had to spend the night in Marriott Hotel at the JFK. first flight to Nassau was going to be at 8.30 am.
We entered our Jet Blue and were very happy that we would now be heading away. Alas, that's not what happened as the Plane in front of ours had technical problems and blocked the manoeuvring area for two hours.
At last, we started at 11.30 am. The next surprise awaited us after landing in Nassau. Or would you have expected cold and rainy weather on the Bahamas? I was happy to have brought a warm jacket with me. During the following four days the weather changed constantly between "rainy and windy" and "windy and looks like rain" and back.
As we tried to check-in to the Sheraton Hotel our reservation was missing. As we were one day late, we had been deleted from the list. At least we were lucky enough to get another room.
The Caribbean Adventure poker main event started on Friday. I played about eight hours before I got koncked out. Huge expense, no recompense.
