The Year of Triumphs
April 2003. Horst Koch visited Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas for the 34th World Series of Poker from 15th – 30th April.
On 20th April 2003 I won the “Second Chance Tournament” at the World Series of Poker at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, playing the poker variation no limit Texas Hold’em. I achieved this by winning against 172 competitors from 10 countries. On this fantastic evening nobody was in the position to beat me, they had nothing on Koch. The winnings were $13,070. On arrival back in German a whole range of media were interested in me.
June 2003.
05th – 07th Visited 2nd Poker Festival in Baden-Baden.
20th Travelled to the casino in Feuchtwangen.
Trip to the recreated frontier town, Pullman City, in Egging am See in Bavaria where there are saloons and it goes without saying that poker is played there. Of course I had to be there.
July.
On 4th July I went again to Feuchtwangen. On this night I had four aces and won a huge pot.
I was back again in Feuchtwangen on 11th July. For four hours I lost – sometimes with a better hand. With a limit of 10-50 Seven Card Stud something like that can become very expensive. Finally, towards midnight I moved to another table. It was the right decision. After half an hour I had won back all the money I had lost and could towards the end of the evening show a profit. In the following weeks I visited Feuchtwangen often but also went to casinos in Baden-Baden, Berlin and Baden near Vienna mostly joining limit tables and played 20/40 Texas Limit, 30/60 Seven Card Stud Limit or Omaha Pot Limit 40/80.
