There is no game that can be unequivocally represented as the origin of the game. Various elements of poker are borrowed from a multitude of games. The basis of the game of poker is very easy which in turn suggests that old games were the model. Analogy with the rules of older games can indeed infer a certain affinity but not the clear-cut provenance. Winning with a numerical series is common in many counties of the world, e.g. China –Mahjong, Persia/Iran – As Nas, Italy – Primiera, Flusso, Frussi, England - Primero, France – Ambigu, Brelan, Bouillotte La Prime, Switzerland – Jass, Flüsseln, Spain – Primero. An early forerunner was a game called Primero in Spain, Primiera in Italy and La Prime in France and was already mentioned in 1526.
