Koch beats Schumacher
In 1997 I received a call from Mr Euler, the Stern TV executive. He adsked me whether I was interested in playing some poker with actor Heiner Lauterbach and race driver Ralf Schumacher. Happily, I agreed.
By that time Seven Card Stud was still the most popular game in Germany, so we sat there and played Stud for about two hours. the show proved to be very successful. About 4.4 million peolpe watched it. Unfortunately I missed the deserved award ceremony as Ralf Schumacher insisted on playing on even after the show had ended. Anyway, it was great fun for all of us.

Actor fails to beat Koch
In 2005 I received a second invitation. Stern TV was going to set up another show on the trend sport poker. Also invited were actor Claude-Oliver Rudolph and the fantastic mathematic genius Dr Dr Gerd Mittring. Now Claude-Oliver Rudolph does really have a pokerface and he's certainly able to bully a couple of players around, but he still has to learn a lot about poker. He was the first to leave the table.

... as does the mathematical genius
Dr Mittring was convinced that poker is all about calculations. It's nice to hear that from a serious scientist who is not personally interested in supporting poker. This should give the German bureaucracy something to think about. Alas, he lost his A K in the decisive hand against my A T as I rivered a ten. Now poker might not be just gambling, but sometimes bad luck is involved...
